CHURCH LEADERSHIP

Will and Chris Wu

PITT College Ministry Leads

Will and Christiana (Chris for short) are the campus ministers for the Pitt campus group. Will became a follower of Jesus at 13, but college is when his faith really came alive, when he saw a group of young people living out their faith in Jesus. Will went to UC Berkeley and graduated with a major in Business Administration. Afterwards, he worked at a solar finance company for a number of years before he went into full time ministry. He also received his Masters in Christian Apologetics from Biola University in 2018. Will loves to play sports, read good biographies, eat good food, and share his faith with anyone who is willing to listen. During her freshman year at UC Berkeley, Chris found herself in a place she never expected herself to be: church. She understood the gospel for the first time and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and got her first taste of ministry as she started sharing this good news with others. She graduated with a B.A. in Biology and M.A. in Biological Chemistry at UCLA before joining Will in full-time ministry. Chris loves plants, dogs, and cooking with typical California ingredients: kale, brussels sprouts, avocado and quinoa. Will and Chris have a gigantic baby boy named Nathaniel (Nate) who loves to smile and giggle at new friends!

Angell and Judy Shieh

CMU College Ministry Leads

Angell and Judy lead our college ministry in CMU. They have been serving in college ministry since 2005 in San Francisco, Berkeley, San Diego and now Pittsburgh. Angell graduated from MIT, and Judy graduated from UC Berkeley. They met while serving in college ministry together in San Francisco. Before full-time ministry in 2017, Angell was a pediatrician and Judy was an attorney in San Diego, while serving as bi-vocational ministers and leading one of the UCSD home groups in our Gracepoint San Diego Church. With the growing needs of ministry and deepening personal conviction that the Gospel is worth giving it all, Angell and Judy, with their two kids Teresa and Taylor were sent off with a team of church planters from various Gracepoint churches to start an Acts 2 church in Pittsburgh. Today you can find Angell and Judy in Pittsburgh checking out local eateries or connecting with students on campus, sharing the same Gospel that came alive to them as college students.

Will and Esther Kang

East Coast REgional Leads

William hit rock bottom at a high point in is life: all was good, but all was meaningless. That is how William found life; And that's how Jesus found him. Since then, when he was just a junior in college, William has been gripped by the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and God's amazing grace. God transformed this frat boy into a pastor and into one of the leaders at our church. William graduated from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) in 1991 with a degree in Economics. He worked as a consultant, a programmer and a business analyst in SF before entering full time ministry. He received his M.Div. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. Esther grew up as a pastor's kid in a large Korean congregation in southern California. Surrounded by pastors all of her life (grandfather, brother and uncles are all pastors), she wasn't all too surprised when William decided to enter full time ministry in 2002. She studied Geography at UC Berkeley and worked as a transportation planner and SAS programmer after graduating from college. She has worked alongside William as a minister and director over many of our ministries ever since they were married. William and Esther serve as regional pastors over Gracepoint East Coast Churches. If they're not in Fairfax, VA, then they're at one of our churches leading leaders, team members and students. And if they're not there, then they're somewhere along I-95, I-70, or the beltway, trying to stay awake, avoiding potholes, paying a toll, missing the freeways of California and looking forward to being with their two grown children.
